CASE STUDY: CENTRAL AVE JAZZ FESTIVAL

HONORING SOUTH LA’S JAZZ LEGACY WITH THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES.

THE CHALLENGE

The City of Los Angeles needed a partner to carry one of LA’s most historic free festivals into its fourth decade (31 years, MLK Blvd to Vernon Ave). It had to honor CentralAvenue’s jazz legacy while delivering a world-class day on a live city street.

OUR APPROACH

Walk Talkin has served as Event Producer and Fiscal Manager for the festival since 2023, producing four editions for Council District 9.

We run the festival from concept to execution:

  • Curation and booking: jazz, Latin jazz, and soul, from legends like Sheila E. and Gregory Porter to rising local artists

  • Production and operations: stage, sound, permitting, safety, and staffing across a full city-street footprint

  • Community and vendors: Art, Health & Wellness, Youth, and Business pavilions, a vendor village, and a volunteerprogram

  • Fiscal management: administering City funding, from budgeting and payment requests to close-out reporting
